Wow! Quite a man to go to for advice... and my estemed Colonial namesake was one of the greatest minds in the early history of the Republic... why shouldn't he be a wizard? Naturally, it is inevitable that Dumbledore should know such a man.
His advice is sound and the precident a good one. A more recent President (JFK) put it well: "When peaceful change becomes impossible, then violent revolution becomes inevitable." Is it possible to have a lightside Dark Lord? One now has to wonder how history, both magical and muggle, will look upon the founder of a new age in Britain.

Interesting point of view. I liked it, and your use of Franklin (and you got his personality down about right).

Jolly good and all that jazz you are used to hearing. I liked it and with more stuff to make you think. I am quite eager to see some damage and then some damage control with Hermione. Keep up the good work.

More problems have arisen. Truly a calm before the storm. And Benjamin Franklin?! Now THAT I did not expect! Finally, some decent American publicity. Even if it is small, I am satisfied.
Harry and his allies are going to have a major uphill battle against the Ministry and its policies, but it is for the best in the long-run. Believe me, some things are better to be torn down and built again from scratch. The British Magical Ministry is one of them.
Keep it up!

Kinsfire mate, please stick to the magical area beacause if you replace England and umbitch with Iraq and Uday then EXACTLY the same reasons for overthrowning the current government would apply!
Otherwise, DAMM good story, and when is ISOS getting updated please.
I agree with another review, why can't the PM and/or the Queen act against the MoM?

Well, as one worm said when he called an airstrike in the game: 'worms world party' "TO WAR!!!"

OUTSTANDING CHAPTER!!!! I love this story as much as I love the story that comes before this one. Well since you've so aptly named this one The Calm Before, I'm guessing that the next chapter will be called The Storm but thats just my guess. I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter however. I love how you had Benjamin Franklin in the story and that he's still around thats so cool. DO keep up the amazingly awesome and outstanding work and update soon please:):):):)

Bejamin Franklin, eh? No wonder Hermione squealed. I guess I would, too - though I'm not sure I know how... So we're getting ready to go to war. I admit I share Harry's worry over the loss of lives, but the MoM really is a basket-case. To the bin with it!
Harry's worries over who he had become is just sweet, as is his wives' declaration that than goodness he managed to put his own sorrow, fury and pain aside and find the best way to deal with the situation. He's no teenager anymore.
Thanks for sharing!

Oy!! Now that's an interesting twist to throw into the mix. The old rapscallion does appear to match his reputation ;) I'm starting to bet a much better idea of where the title of this work derived.
*wicked chuckle* This is gonna be an "E-ticket" (no, you young'uns, that's not an "electronic ticket", it's a reference to the original ticketing scheme at Disneyland where the really "fun" rides - the Matterhorn for instance - required E-tickets, as opposed to A- through D- tickets, to ride) ride for certain and I'll be looking forward to it.

I can't stop smiling right now. "Jerry 'A-Hater' Stomp" and "Mr. Troy, a phaser jet" now where in the world have I seen those before? I'm flattered if my hunch is correct.
I like where the story is going, Franklin still being alive is a shocker but fun none the less. Perhaps Harry should get some backing from the elves, centaurs, and merfolk before the revolution. After all, Humans and Goblins are not the only two sentient species being oppressed.

"It is barely noon now, so that makes it roughly five o'clock in the afternoon in Philadelphia."
Keith, are they on a Polynesian island? Because London is five hours ahead of Philly, not behind; at noon in London it'd be 7 AM in Philly.
I'm having a ball reading this! Let the revolution begin!

If Harry is smart, since he's consulted the senior American diplomat (the magical eminence grise of the American magical government), perhaps Harry should actually consider consulting the *British muggles*; specifically the PM and the Royal Family? It could help minimize both *colatteral damage* to the Muggle government, and possibly end-run the existing Magical government if they can get the Royals (and the PM) backing them up.

An interesting chapter. I rather liked the bit with Benjamin Franklin, it should prove interesting to see what springs from this. Great job.
